About us

Bergen Running Tours started as Joggetur in 2011. After the pandemic we've rebranded to be ready for new adventures.

The company was established in August 2011 by three locals who enjoy jogging, live in city center, and love their beautiful city. The idea was to combine jogging and showing visitors the city and its surroundings.

We have customers in all shapes and forms from all over the world, from those running marathons an wanting a training run to people without and training background, all sharing the idea that seeing a city is best done by foot.

As we’re not your regular tourist guiding company, we take you of the beaten track to show you the hidden gems of the city. We’re all locals and depending on your preferences we’ll give you a brief history lesson of the city while on the run, or just be a running companion making sure you’re returned safe to your hotel.

Our customers range from business travelers’ making time for an early run before breakfast, tourists curious on local life, groups wanting to make a social activity and people travelling alone in need for a guide to make a run.

Bergen is by all means a beautiful city. The routes range from easy jogging routes in city center in order to see a variety of the Bergen sights up close, to more demanding, longer and hillier routes up into the surrounding mountains with splendid visitas.

In addition to jogging, our product also includes the urban trend “spotted by locals”, which is a chance to discover a city with a local. Our jogging guides are all locals living in city center, thus in addition to a short description of the various sights we pass and the history of the city, you will receive tips on where to eat and drink and exciting things to do in Bergen whilst you are here. Therefore, we put a lot of effort into qualifying our jogging guides and helping them stay updated on what’s going on in Bergen’s social and cultural scene, as well as being able to keep up with our customers in the run.

If you love to run, then you should know that there is no better way to experience a new place than to run through and around it! Stig provided a fantastic tour for me, customizing the tour to start from my BnB that was outside of the city and meeting my long run mileage of an 11+ mile run (can't miss the long run when you're training!). He was extremely conversational, provided history of areas that we passed through, and met my pace exactly as I needed it. Not only did I feel like I got off the beaten path of Bergen, but he also took me through downtown and pointed out areas to visit as well as some neighborhoods that made for some beautiful photographs. On top of all of that, at the end of the tour Stig took me to the bus station and helped me figure out the right bus pass to get for my stay, and then helped me find the right bus back to my BnB. The tour was fantastic value and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience - so glad I was able to run in Bergen!

Found Bergen Jogging Experience through some collegeaus and went for a guided jogsightseeing through the city. It was excellent. Good information, lovely route, warm and helpful guide (I think his name was Eric) and a lot of tips for where to go for a meal or a drink. This is my kind of guiding.

Erik met us at the cruise terminal and we ran about 12kms and saw parts of the city we would not have found on our own. Erik showed us his childhood stomping grounds and his knowledge of the city was excellent. As a guide he was very 'chilled' and where the route was a little hilly, we were able to walk - there was no stress or pressure to run at a certain speed. Tip; tap into Erik's local knowledge for tips and recommendations.

These running tours gives you a real feel of Bergen and surroundings! I ran with guide Erik of the Bergen Jogging Experience through non-touristic Bergen and the mountains of the Vidden trail. Both so beautiful. Would never have discovered these parts of Bergen myself. The guide grew up in Bergen himself and knows every square centimeter of the town and the mountains. He easily adjusted the tours to my interest and running experience, and payed close attention to safety. All together this was the perfect way to discover the area, and a great first acquaintance with Norway, so many thanks!

As regular runners and frequent travellers, we were intrigued to combine our two interests and we were certainly not disappointed.

Ronni was a fantastic guide - he went at our pace, he was attentive, informative, brought supplies (water etc) and a celebratory bar of post- race chocolate as it was my birthday!

We saw the city, finding all the interesting spots that tourists usually miss and then headed for the mountains before returning to our lodgings after 16k of a great experience.

Although we are regular runners I would encourage runners of all abilities to take the opportunity to see the city this way. Information, education and you keep fit too!

Apparently Erik, the usual guide, was on holiday but, Erik, you left the tour in very capable hands. Well done Ronni and all concerned - 5 star event!
